Beards, Reindeer, & Eats!
One of my husband and I's favorite things to do, is escape to Northern VA. "It's something about the sky," he says as soon as we hit Woodbridge. HaHa...at first I used to think whaaaatt, but now I get it. It's just so much brighter, and crisp. The sun seems to know how to shine in just the right ways, drawing us in every singe time we go.
A hobby of mine, that's grown to be my husband's too, is trying new restaurants. DMV is the best place to do that! There's great pizza, pubs, seafood, and let's not forget ice-cream parlors. Plus, doing this gives us time to have date nights and experience things we wouldn't normally try. It adds excitement and newness for us. What we love most, are all the locally owned restaurants and small cafes. Food just seems to taste so much better when it's local, and the vibe of the atmosphere is AMAZING. These mini adventures are definitely our escape from our everyday. There's ALWAYS something to do in NoVa and D.C. too!
Our past trip was in December, and we stayed in the wonderful Mosaic District of Fairfax. We rested at the Hyatt House, which is right in the center of all the action. It was our first time booking there, and it has now been added to our top list of affordable hotels. If you've never stayed at one DO IT Lol! Nope I'm not a Hyatt correspondent, it's just great! While there we tried a local quaint, tasty cafe called Mom & Pop. They sell everything from coffee, to house-made croissants, fresh hot chocolate, sandwiches and gelato. For lunch, we tried Nando's Peri-Peri, which is an African and Portuguese influenced restaurant. We also dined at one of favorites for dinner, Hen Penny. They serve all things chicken related. Hen Penny has fried chicken, sandwiches, grilled chicken, pulled chicken and salads. Everything yummy! So here's a glance at our weekend trip...
