WE ARE EACH OTHER
Dear Girl,
It's Okay to Cry
It's Okay to not be okay EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
I know what it's like to believe in God, but feel so far away; so far from His promises
I know what it's like to want to stand in the rain, because if I'm standing in the rain no one can see the tears falling.
I know what it's like to feel alone even when you're amongst the presence of others
If you cry in the car unexpectedly...it's okay
If you need to be hugged...it's okay
Feeling like the pile of clothes over there...it's okay; LEAVE THEM
You're longing to sleep away the day, but you can't because people depend on you; like your helpless baby, spouse, or those nameless ones
You suppress the tears but the lump in your throat grows bigger and bigger
You succumb to the panic that seems to come out of nowhere
Sometimes there's no answer to the why that people may ask
You've cancelled on your friends 3xs already; you make convincing excuse after excuse
You're left wondering are my excuses even convincing at this point (NOPE)
I was there in that very space just yesterday
You've lost sight of the dream
The burning passion for that thing that once seemed tangible but now seems like nothing more than JUST. A. DREAM.
That girl is me, She is You, You are Me, and I. AM. YOU.
"Talitha Cumi"....Little girl, I say to you arise
Truth is Anxiety (depression) can be crippling. It can leave you wondering why am I this way. Why was I the one whose brain has to function like this. It can leave you comparing yourself to those around you. But the truth is their life is just as messy as yours. Comparing yourself constantly only causes you to fall deeper and deeper into that cycle of helplessness. Don't do it to yourself. Things take time. And in due time they will come; if that's the will for your path.
I'm learning daily that not everyone is going to understand your feelings/emotions and what you may need during those times. And you know what that's okay. If you can't talk to your spouse/partner, or that one friend whose always negative or parent, then find someone you can talk to. We all need someone to talk to, and that may very well be a counselor. It's OKAY to need help. It's OKAY to need someone to talk to. Don't allow yourself or anyone to make you feel bad for needing those things. But it's not okay to allow yourself to stay in those sunken places (if you can help it). Recognizing your triggers, and environments that bring on anxiety is huge. Removing yourself from those situations is even greater!
We were not meant to do life alone. The Sun never intended that for us. Talk to someone. Get help if you need it, even if you think you don't need it. We all do.
